Checking the FS/FT forums I found (none of these are mine or anything):
- X2 3800+ with ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU for $140 shipped
- 4200+ with stock heatsink/fan for $150
- 4200+ with stock heatsink/fan for $160

If you're going to do any more than upgrade with a used duial core processor, then yeah go with a new core2duo pcie rig, but it'll cost ya.

I really don't think the 6800GT is enough for me. If you look here for example, the 6800GS, which is essentially the same as the 6800GT, can't even do 30 FPS at 1280x1024 on Company of Heroes. They did test with SM3.0, but the rig is running a C2D E6700. Also, I haven't seen a single review or benchmark where someone can get 30+ fps on 1280x1024 with a 6800GT or equivalent card on even low settings in GRAW.

Ah, okay. Well if you're ready to make the investment, go for it! :)

i think your PSU should be fine. when they say 30A, they overstate it. i'm sure a fortron 450w can handle that graphic card and it has 18A on each rail (i think 28A combined) and the seasonic 430w has 14A on the first rail, 15A second, and definitely less than 29A combined.

would you consider the gigabyte DS3 for a motherboard? i hear it's good at overclocking and a solid board. idk if you'll be overclocking though. the biostar is good, too, i think so you'll be fine either way.

i think the parts you picked are real good. just make sure your PSU can't handle the load before you buy a new one

I chose the Biostar mainly because of price, I'm already pushing my budget already. I will probably try to run the graphics first, if I have problems, I will buy a new PSU.

If youre and overclocker scrap everything and get a E4300 setup and GTO for about $1000.

If you run stock I'd get a 4600 X2 for $165 and a X1950pro AGP for $219 and be set.

Should be able to sell your CPU and GPU for $150 total upgrade will be about $225
