well that depends on your Q8200 overclock. if you can't get it above 3.4 GHz then I would sell it and get a 9550 if (and only if) you can get it for $170 at microcenter. you should be able to get at least $100 on ebay for the Q8200.

Would a Q9550 be a major upgrade from a Q8200? (with OC involved)...

I did make a specific thread on this exact question. I went with no. my Q8200 is at 3ghz while undervolted. Sure it still runs very warm, but thats the only con I have about it. Looking at benches, going from 4mb L2 to 12mb L2 does not actually make much of a difference.

(all you nay sayers, just look at Q8200 compared to Q6600 benchmark

I dunno I guess I just feel different.
I went from an e4300 to a Q9450 back when they cost $300
Q9550 being essentially the same chip, it just don't seem like a reasonable reaction in price for 2yrs time.

2 years ago the Q9550 was, what, $480? I'd say it is a pretty good price reduction.

That's a crazy nice price. I thought E8400s and Q6600s were still that price

They still are.

AFAIK the Q9550's are no longer at that price and have gone up.

Low price went away for a couple weeks, and then came back. It's been on and off (mostly on) for the past year.
