The 9800GX2 actually launched on 3-18-08. Still a very quick price drop, but it was a little more than a week.

once pixels are so small for eye to register all image details, that is too much and no benefit, just downside - less FPS.
The situation you describe is far in excess of what is available on displays in consumer space. That's why we need AA.

Heck, I run my 19? at 1920x1440 and even 4xAA isn?t enough to smooth edges completely sometimes.
