mx1000 hands down.. don't need to think.. it's $40 at staples, as you already know, so you should already have it on your desk and ready to go

Picked up a MX1000. Hated it. Had that 1 second lag when you pick it up to move it (which I do often while using the computer) Returned the MX1000 and ordered a MX510 which I'm using now......Love it!!!

MX1000 has great battery life. Mine goes about 2 weeks between charges. I make sweet sweet love to it every night.

I have the MX 700 and just got the MX 1000 on the Staples deal. The only thing I don't like about the MX 1000 is that the batteries are sealed in so you cannot access them. With my 700 if I forgot to cradle it a couple days and got the low battery warning I could always stick a couple of NiMH batteries in it and stick the mouse batteries in an NiMH charger.

Didn't vote cause no option for mx518

Just ordered one yesterday off zzf, $39 shipped (2 day)

EDIT: The mx510 i was using before that was easily the best mouse i've ever used.

Yeah, I know some people really love the mx 518's ultra high dpi and all, but for that price I would just get the mx1000 cause it fits my needs more in that price range.

I went to CC to return the mouse and felt the mx1000 and 500. I thought they were both comfortable, but I liked the layout of the 1000 a bit more.

Alot of people are telling me to get the mx1000, but I still don't know why they think its better than mx500. As I said, wireless is not a big thing for me and I don't see the advantages of a laser mouse. anyone care to comment on this?

i suggest 1000. its wireless. big plus. battery lasts quite a while. and tracking is very good. mice last a long time, and its something you are constantly using. so quality is easy to justify. you will never think oh i never use that..what a waste of money...

I think the MX518 is better than than the MX510 which is better than the MX500.

The MX1000 is technically better than all of those but I don't like it's shape as much.

I personally have 3 MX700's and an MX1000. I use the MX700's on my gaming rig because I like their shape better.
