I'm a pc gamer sincs Half-life, bought a 360&PS3 in 2008 and resold them in january 2009, never been a fan of fighting games ( probably because i suck at them), or final fantasy type RPGS, racing games are great but Ican play those on my gaming pc too (with or without a controller), also gears and uncharted are great but they dont justify me to own a console just to play 2-3 games, im not a fan of fps on console's either, problem if you started as a pc gamer you could never get used to the cluncky controls or performace degrade in console gaming.

I started as nothing but a PC gamer, and it will always be my home for RTS games. Platformers and third person games will never be played on a PC by me, it just feels wrong with the kb/m.

And honestly, I'm too lazy to be assed with finding drivers and patches these days. I had to get a bunch of updates and resolution mods, that ran via command line -_-, for Planescape recently, and that was enough to make me remember why I just don't bother with the PC anymore. If it isn't on Steam I don't want it.

I pretty much quit console gaming. It's not that the games aren't fun, but I'm getting sick of the ridiculous start-up times—developer logo, publisher logo, sounds effects logo, 3D engine logo. Bah! I hate games that don't have a save anywhere feature now.

Agree 100%. IMO, consoles are great for everything except FPS's, RTS's, and MMO's. Pretty much everything else I prefer a console.

You must be pressed for time if you quit console gaming because you had to sit through 15-20 seconds of logo's at the start of a game.

I play everything on my xbox / playstation unless it only comes on PC. I love the total war series. I opened a business and don't want to spend the time or effort downloading / upgrading / sitting in my den with a mointor. I prefer my 72" tv and no problems... I simply don't have the time to dedicate to PC gaming... consoles are too easy and good enough.

I might be late but this...

Games like Infamous and Uncharted are why I own a PS3. Games like Gears are why I own a 360. Games like Minecraft, Half-Life, Baldur's Gate, WoW, and Crysis are why I own a PC.

I stuffed my PC into a nice HTPC case, hooked it up to my 50 inch HDTV, and I have barely touched my 360 or PS3 since. I got the 360 wireless adapter for my PC so I can use wireless 360 controllers for games that it makes sense for.

I love gaming in general, but personally I think PC gaming still blows the consoles away. Most of the big-name games are available on PC with better graphics and controls than the console version. Plus you can usually set a higher field of view for FPS games.

If you already have a good gaming PC, I'd say don't bother with the consoles unless there is a large number of console exclusive games you're dying to play. If you're a bored gamer longing for something "more", you probably aren't going to find it by buying a console.

It is simply user base. Console games have a much larger user base and therefore publishers are able to sell to more people. Simple.

There are literally billions of PCs in the world. The PC user base is MUCH larger than the console user base.

Try to think of anyone you know that doesn't own a PC. Now try to think of people you know that don't own a console.

Because video games consoles were created just for that...gaming. How does that not make sense?

...you aren't responding to my question. I said consoles aren't for serious gaming. You said it's a dumb thing to say. I ask why you think it's dumb to say that console gaming isn't serious, and this is your response. That doesn't answer anything, that's why.

If Duke comes out in June...
YES. But then again. I heard it is coming out on PC too.

BIG "if" by the way re Duke. As I get OLDER, I find the simplistic controls of a gamepad easier. My dexterity aint what it used to be. And doing 6 mouse buttons along with "WASD" and a "Q" and "E" thrown in for good measure along with a "Shift Control" or a "Control". Console just seems easier. Dumbed down? Perhaps. But in less than a year I have complete more FPS on my Xbox than I have on PC in the last 5.
HOWEVER, if you are into Multiplayer, I must share. In those games. Both PC and 360, I am a meat shield, never a leader.
I am BAD on PC. But I have fun. Really have fun. On my 360. I am horrible. Really HORRID. On Black Ops, I can go games 0 and 26 NO problem. (Kill to death) On my PC, I average a tad less than 50/50. I guess my TRUE skill set has no place to hide (PC can be 12 on 12 or more, 360 is usually 6 on 6 if I rememeber). I dont understand it.Maybe its what I said before, but its LESS than ZERO fun. So I have NOT been on XBOX live in months.

Something to think about.

The problem is "serious gaming" is an oxymoron, or maybe incomprehensibly vague.

In any case, I like Civ II/IV, and Pikmin. I like Masters of Orion, and Kirby's Canvas Curse.

I like Starcraft, and Animal Crossing. I like COD, and Miner 2049er.

Anyway, since the op likes platformers, I'd recommend getting a Wii, Donky Kong Country, and Mario Bros.

Those are just some of the games and series you miss out on if your not a console gamer. I think most normal people would find at least some of those games worth their time, if not some of the finest they've recently played. But to each his own.

I think it's worth getting into Console gaming. I started with PC Gaming with my Commodore 64 but played my cousins Atari and ColecoVision a lot before that. So I am what others might consider old. However you cannot beat a good console for value over time. You buy a console for the price of a high end video card and your good for 4-5 years. You don't have to worry about hardware/software upgrades. It just works with the games that are released for the system.

My PC is not the same, you have drivers and software updates that cause issues. You spend more $$ to try to stay current and sometimes the issues that comes with software requires at least a basic to moderate knowledge of the OS. The flipside of this? Mods. Without a doubt you can add so much more to games with Mods. Therefore you see more bang for buck from the games, and your much more likely to play them longer.

Everyone is different and you will find great arguments for both sides. If you were to ask me what I prefer I would say they are both great therefore I would certainly recommend console gaming to anyone.

Let's put it on a more simpler way. The prices for games are the same on PC and console so this won't be an issue.
Now let's talk on how much you would invest in a new computer to be able to play games with high details. I think in the computer industry you would ahve to upgrade things every 1.5 years and that is around 400 Euros at least. With PS3 for example you payed once 350Euros and for the next 3 years not charge....
Make the math yourself

Well, console gamers, and PC gamers are totally different breeds from what I am aware off. Just like you got some fanboy's of Microsoft and Sony. You shouldnt just stick to one type of system, and or product line just because. I own all systems, well almost all systems dating from the atari 2600, to the Recent Wii, Xbox, and PS3. I also have a far share of computer games. Lol. But my computer games taste is quite different from everybody else. I like simulator games you cant get on a console, so PC games for me is teh way to go. I play counter strike back in the day, and that was my FPS I liked. I got into Halo and Halo 2 in the xbox days. I missed those days. Street Fighter in SNES Days, and Now I am playing Street Fighter IV on xbox360 with a tournament stick. Console gaming is here to stay, and will never get replaced or die out. Most of the time, just play console specific titles like God of War for PS3, Forza for xbox, and Smash Brothers for Wii. Likewise for PC, play those games for strictly PC titles.
