Is it weird to compliment a women's shoes?

As title suggests,

I feel like now if you give a woman a compliment on a specific article of clothing, you run the risk of being branded a perv in her eyes. Anyway, my coworker had a new outfit on today and had some new kicks to go with them and I told her "New shoes eh? They look nice" and immediately thought "I shouldn't have said that." It was just a genuine compliment, she looked well put together, but I feel like the days of complimenting women are coming to a close thanks to weirdos and fetish porn. Thoughts?

I think people like being complimented if the compliment is honest and isn't just a trick to try to touch them or sleep with them.

Unless it is non-clothing related, I wouldn't risk it (at least if it's in the work place). That means the only ones I might mention would be to compliment on something like a watch or a purse or something..

Blame our ridiculous PC culture. Everyone always has to take something to mean something offensive. Compliment her shoes and she might think you have a foot fetish or something.

Why is ATOT always having a hard time with every little social interaction?

Nothing wrong with complimenting women's shoes. Unless you were pumping your eyebrows with a creepy tone.

There is nothing wrong with the question in a vacuum. The problem is that we read that question while looking at the Avatar. j/k The answer really depends on the relationship you have developed.

How heavily were you breathing at the time of the compliment? And were you wearing pants?

If you're a woman it's mandatory. If you're a guy you mark yourself as either gay or a creepy foot fetishist if you even notice their shoes. Go with a simple "yo, nice rack!" Every woman appreciates it even if she says she doesn't and that way you let her know that you're a real dude, not a manlet.

You sound like my 70 year old boss with these 90s-era sentiments.

You sound like an ignorant stupid whiny bitch.

I'm not calling you an ignorant stupid whiny bitch.

I'm saying you sound like one. An ignorant stupid whiny bitch that is.

Maybe. I remember doing it once only, it was around 10 years ago, it was my niece. Her response (I wanted to take a picture of her far out shoes/slippers) was wondering if I have a foot fetish and if her feet were going to be displayed online, or such! I was taken aback. It's completely untrue and my response was "I'm very normal, sexually." True.

Is it OK to just say to a woman that she looks great, beautiful or whatever... getting no more specific than that? I often wonder that but I have rarely if ever done it. I'd like to, though... sometimes.

If you're not friends, don't do it. Basically it's not a good ice breaker.

Next time lick your lips as you're saying it and if she asks why you're licking your lips, blame the lack of humidity in the office environment. You gotta say it just like that though.

Well, the last time I posted a legitimate thread and somebody did the exact same thing to me, the mods said it was perfectly acceptable behavior on the forum.

Pretty sure it was LikeLinus. Or one of those jerks.

remember the 90s? things were better then.

Oh god yes. Everytime I see that shit on Facebook.... DUR HUR dem kids will nvr know wut its liek to be 90s! We had der TV show and der CD Player.

I get it, but there is plenty of shit 90s kids didn't experience... record players, manual trans cars, a dinner table without a smart-phone, etc...

Though I will admit my nostalgia for old classic Nintendo games. Thankfully all I need is a USB SNES controller + emulator.
