Because it doesn't come close to the performance of my IBM 45gb GXP which gives me more than enough space than I could possibly use for the next two years. It is just so much more convenient to have everything in one place rather than shuffle through cdrws to find a small file. It's bad enough just finding my regular cdrs, I couldn't imagine having cdrws to dig through. I guess RW is good for people with small to medium sized hds.
