Is it true that the more brawns = less brains?

Personally I've never met an extremely intelligent weight lifter...hmmmm

It might just be a division of time. If you spend all the time working out, you can't be studying and vice versa.

Well given that most people on AT have IQs of 140+ and can bench 300lbs I would say it's a myth ;)

Henry Rollins. I'd say he is pretty damn intelligent and obviously lifts.

Funny, my IQ's 130 and I can bench 335 if that counts for anything?

I can't imagine why there would be a correlation between the two, but I used to work in psychiatric hospital and some of those people were incredibly strong.

Maybe it should be more like "less brains = more brawn" with reason being not that they are actually physically stronger, but that they seem so because of their diminished inhibitions. Some patients could strike out with a force that seemed abnormally high, but may have only seemed that way because they were not holding anything back because they were not thinking through the entire consequences of using full force.

i just finished med school, so i assume im relatively intelligent, and i lift regularly, and bench press around 300lbs. Many of my friends from school also lift, so i would go ahead and say there are some intelligent people who find time to study, and lift

I've never met a weightlifter who spent all his or her time working out. A serious workout takes a whole lot less time than most people spend watching TV in an average day.
