Is it true that at Harvard, you get to keep only the grades you want on your transcript? I heard this, wondering if its true. If it is, seems unfair to all the other school that do not have this policy and inflates the public's perspective of Harvard.

Don't know about Harvard, but I do know that Stanford allows you to drop the class at the last minute, and by last minute I mean before the final exam.

My school allowed us to drop the class VERY late during our freshman year only. Are you sure about what you're saying ?Originally posted by: GiLtY

I heard about this too. I doubt anyone would actually do it unless they know they were failing. Otherwise, it'd be a huge waste of time and money considering how much tuition costs.

I went to UT Dallas and they would allow you to retake a class later and have the higher of the two grades be the only one that counted in your GPA so that I think is a fairly standard deal since it is a public university. The one catch is both classes remain on your transcript so anyone who looks at it can tell you took the class multiple times. Last day to drop a class was like a month or a month and half before the semester was over.
I guess I'm a little naive but I assumed that was the way most schools did it.

not the way my school does. If you failed you can retake, but only to get the credits...the grade remains the same.Originally posted by: Broncho I went to UT Dallas and they would allow you to retake a class later and have the higher of the two grades be the only one that counted in your GPA so that I think is a fairly standard deal since it is a public university.
