Is it true having indoor plants help having fresh air in your room?

If so how significant is it? I know plants are good for you as they produce fresh oxygen all day and emit minuscule amount of CO2 at night.

But how beneficial is it in reality, and how much plant per standard sized room?

Certain plants (like peace lilies) are known for greater air filtering than other plants, so I have a small one in my bedroom and a large one in the living room (with a floor to ceiling bamboo plant). Not sure how many you would need per square foot or anything to equal an air purifier.

I'd just open a window. We have 10 plants in the living room, and with the windows closed, it still "breathes" like crap.

Highly doubt you would notice any difference even if half your home was filled with plants. As others suggested, open a window.

if you get a venus flytrap though, you might eliminate some of the insects flying around in the room!

Dunno, it seems to work really well for a friend of mine. In fact, he keeps a whole bunch of plants in his basement just for that purpose, insisting it helps him breath better. I went there once and got a picture.

Does he smoke his air freshener?

one day in elementary school, i was sick and my nose was stuffed up and I sat next to the Christmas tree in the room and there was so much oxygen coming from the tree i could breathe out of my nose, but only when sitting next to it.

Do Christmas trees still photosynthesize when they've been chopped off at the knees?

lolwat?

My home is furnished with living trees shaped during their growth. Each one is watered with the blood of the innocent and can take up to 5 years to take shape. My guests always marvel at the beauty and tranquility of my living space. I have hosted private parties for world leaders and warlords alike. They are all in awe of my furnishings.

i didnt sit by the tree with the intention of breathing better. I just sat there and was like why is my nose not stuffed here and looked and the tree was right next to me and when I moved my nose was stuffed again.
