I have quite an old rig from 2001:

P4 1.8 gig, pc133 SDRAM, 40 gig HD, radeon 8500 128 meg.

How much does it cost me to get a decent computer? I dont need to get anything blazin fast... something to play games decently (not much of a FPS fan)

He's on SDR SDRAM - don't put any more money into that crap, it's too outdated. Get a new motherboard that supports DDR SDRAM, at least. Depending on which socket configuration your P4 is, you may need a new CPU as well.

Get a new mobo/ram, then gradually upgrade the rest as you can afford. If you have the cash, just build an A64 rig.

You think you computer is old??

<<--------- is typing from a desktop Dell Dimension XPS700T = Pent 3 700Mhz, 128MB PC100 SDRAM, 30 GB HD, 32MB Nvidia graphic card, Win98 (close to top of the line in 2000).

I upgraded the RAM, HD, and Windows.

To the OP, I think it will cost you between 500 to 1K for a decent computer (depends greatly on the configuration). I am talking about desktops only.
