Is it the enclosure or the drive?

I purchased a Western Digital WD3200BEVT 320gb 2.5" drive and an Eagle ET-CS2LSU2-BK external enclosure.

It all went together perfectly except the setup doesn't work. No matter what I do the drive is not recognized anywhere in my system.

It came with a double plug cable and I have plugged it into back ports, front ports and a powered hub. With the front or back plugs, the drive spins up, the led indicator glows green but nothing else happens. When I tried the powered hub, I also get a few USB connect/disconnect dings but then still, nothing is recognized by the system.

I don't have anything else to try the drive with but its either the enclosure or the drive. The powered hub should be giving it enough power and thats the only place I saw any USB activity. Since I got the series of connects/disconnects sounds, I am thinking there may be a bad connection.

But, if you had to guess, which component do you think is failing here?

Have you hooked up the hdd internally, like to the sata header on your mobo?
If you're hard drive works there, then it has to be the enclosure.

Problem solved, enclosure. Bought a new one, different brand (Transcend) and it works like a charm!
