It's pretty hard to describe an acceptable torque (tightness) level. Maybe it's about the same amount of force you'd use to turn off a slightly stubborn faucet? I can't think of a better common example.

Okay I just took a extra standoff and used the smooth head bottom like you guys were saying. That has the thicker spiral.

It doesn't fit at all. But the ones I used with the corrugated (was that the word lol) head and thinner spiral fits perfectly. The one the book says to use.

But Im being told that head damages the motherboard. But thats the only option I have unless I go purchase screws.

I've never seen screws with the fine-grained thread have corrugated heads. That would be a first for me.

I have seen such. OTOH, every old Dell and every old piece of hardware I ever had gave up all its screws before it met its end, so I have a nice varied collection now.

Gentle, but firm pressure until the sound of dry old chicken bones breaking stops.

Works for me. o_O

Honestly - don't worry about the screw type thing. Metric screws (the ones we're talking about) are differentiated in such a way that they'll either twist in easily or not fit at all.

Also, while technically one should use flat screws, you can still use those corrugated ones. There's a high chance that your motherboard will never give you any problems in its usable life and even if it does there's again a high chance that the screw marks will go through unnoticed (especially outside of the U.S. where consumers have more rights :ninja: ).
