Is it stupid for me to try to build a PM+Tyan Dual System at the present time..?

I really need a full fledged server/powerworkstation machine...
I got some suggestions to go with two 1.2 PM's and one of the new tyan dual boards.

My current two boxes are on the old KT133 Plain chipset and crash like crazy. I need something really solid that I can count on when running multiple high resource programs.

If the prices are gonna drop dramaticaly and better boards are going to come out in about a month or less I would definitly reconsider buying a solution now.

Let me know what you guys think. Thx

What is a PM?!?

Don't you mean a MP?!?;)

Btw, does MP stand for Multi-Purpose?

LOL at you guys. I think AntMan means MP as in Multi-processor. How much are you willing to pony up?

I would suggest the Tyan Thunder K7 if you have some money to spend. If you're more budget minded, get the Tyan Tiger. Both boards will kick bootah with a pair of 1.2 Palomino's. :D

Both boards are pretty stable from what I hear, but better boards seem to be on the horizon (such as the 760MPX chipset - 64/bit-66mhz PCI). I've heard October for such boards, but only time will tell. My reccomendation is to wait a month (if you have it), and see the market situation then, and then decide if to buy then, or wait for the new boards to come out.

I don't know if the 760MPX is really worth the wait. Unless you're already using, or plan to use 64-bit PCI adapters you're not waiting for much...
