I hope you're not talking about commercial programs. Those are illegal to download.

It is called warez and it is illegal. Are you looking for a vacation?
 
To answer your question, yes, there are viruses. I remember at least three people posted here about getting viruses from downloading stuff using those peer-to-peer programs. It's because the people who share "programs" get a kick out of people downloading stuff thinking they are getting software for free, and knowing they are going to get a virus.

i didnt know that how was i sopposed to know, and vacation just for asking?

i asked if it was safe i didnt say that i downloaded or going ot download it at all

i might just get it from a friend or go out and buy it
