Is it Safe?

Alright well I am new to online banking like this. I have a Bank of America account and they screw me but its local and I can go see them whenever I like. I am sick of it though and am leaning towards online banking for the rates.

What should I know about online banking. I have heard of ING for a while but I have never heard of Emigrant. Is it safe to use are they all safe what should I look for when chosing a bank?

My first thought was about the movie "Marathon Man" when I read the topic title

*cringe*

Edit: Yes, BOA online banking is safe. I've set foot in an actual branch about twice in the last year and a half since opening the account online. Direct deposit + online bill pay FTW.

Both ING and Emigrant are safe. Emigrant has higher rates and I'm in the process of moving my money over from ING.

Now these types of accounts are primarily used for savings. Seems like you need access to your money. I know one online bank does offer ATM cards (HSBC?).

Trey so is there really no way to access your money through an atm? are they strictly online? How do you get cash etc
