Is it safe to use this PSU on my rig?

I'm building a new system and am a little budget-minded right now. Here are the planned components:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (S754)
ECS K8M800 Mainboard
1GB Corsair PC3200 DDR RAM (2x512)
ATI AIW X800XT
16X DVD Drive
Maxtor 250GB HDD w/8MB cache

Would this cheap 350W PS be sufficient for this system?

Or should I go a little higher and get a 400W PS?

i dont know, it doesnt look very good, i would look for something better. also, with a skt 754 sytem, you cant run dual channel, so just run one 1024gb stick
 
Most of the components were purchased at Fry's. The reason why I got 2x512 was because it was on sale for $75 after MIR and it was a decent brand. They have another one of sale, a 1GB stick of Patriot -brand memory that was $70 after MIR but I'm a little weary about smaller companies and MIRs. I guess I'll go there later and pick up a namebrand 400W PS instead.
 
I would definately not go with a cheap PSU...the PSU as many people overlook is one of the most important part of your system...one bad PSU can fry all your components...

If you are budget minded i would go with something from Antec, like the True power series
 
I dont know about that PSU. The regulations go as high as -+ 10% on the 12v. Thats too much flucuation IMO. Better to spend the money on a more reliable PSU. It will only serve you better in the long run.
 
Apparently Channel Well manufactures PSUs for Antec, Xclio, and some other retail PSU brands, so there's nothing wrong with it, but that particular 350W PSU has an anemic 12V rail.

The only PSU from that site that has sufficient amperage in its 12V rail seems to be the 550W CWT-550DF:

How much is that listed for?

You might as well order from Newegg and get a 350w Sparkle, probably the same price, but twice as good!

Like others said, PLEASE don't skimpp on the PSU.
 
The PSU cost me $120 +tax at Fry's. I decided to get it there b/c it's relatively close to where I live and I don't have to pay for the shipping that I would had I ordered it online. 😀
 
oooo for that price i woulda gone with an OCZ mod stream, but antec is just as good for that system, and as some1 else said you should be able to even use it for your next....good choice
 
You can't go with a cheaper gfx card? Its nice but I would invest in a more balanced system. Why not post your budget and let folks help you choose the best setup you can get for money.
 
Oh my fault I didn't see you already bought things. You really should get a good name brand ps like others have suggested.

They just got the Antec Truepower 2.0 380W PSU in so I decided to return the Neopower and purchase that one for $70 instead. That should be enough to power my rig right?

Plenty... It seems silly to get a 480W PSU for that system. I did for mine, but that was becasue I plan on updating my GPU and CPU in a year or 2 (probably mobo as well).
