Is it safe to use my laptop in Europe?

Hi all,

I bought a Gateway laptop this Christmas (my first laptop), but the specs from Gateway are sparce to say the least.
I understand that the voltage in Europe is different than it is here. However, the last time I went to Europe, I was able to recharge my camcorder using a plug adapter. Does anyone know if using a plug adapter is safe for my laptop?

Thanks in advance

Hrm, not sure tbh, you lot use 130V @60hz or so don't you? Our gear might not work on your stuff as the voltage is too low (we use 240V @ 50hz) but yours could get fried (in theory).

In practice i doubt you'd kill it.

Check the power brick. It will say what voltage is accepts. if it say something like 110 - 250 volts input (or around there), then you are good to go. But you will most likely need a plug adapter.

Thanks for the advice, Gentlemen.

The power bar does indeed show the specs: input 100-240v [kicking myself for not thinking of it!]

Thanks. I only have to use the plug adapter that I already have, and I'm good to go!

Right on! I used my Gateway in France, UK, Hungary, Austria, and Italy - no problem. Just carry a bag of plug adapters.
