Is it safe to store computer parts in bubble wrap for long term?

So I'm moving soon. Have a desktop that's huge and heavy to ship or carry around in a car. I thought about junking the case and just saving the components inside, but then I ran out of anti-static bags (threw them all away awhile back).

Can I rush out to Staples and buy tons of bubble wrap mailers and store the parts in there? How long do you think they'll keep?

I don't plan to reassemble for a while after taking it apart.
 
They should keep for a pretty long time, until someone rubs the bubble wrap like a balloon. Or someone steps on the bubble wrap for the popping 😛
 
i think the bubble mailers would be more than enough protection for long-term. if you have some extra anti-static bags laying around, you could always put your components in there and then inside the bubble mailers.

Can I just use those normal $0.99 bubble wrap mailers? What about anti-static?
 
hrm, I just put all the components in a box.
has worked for years and years that way.

I actually have a boxed filled with nic cards, no padding, just all piled on each other.
They still work fine.

lmao same here... i seriously need to bring a bunch of those old boxes to an electronics recycling place! i don't think i'll need any ISA-slot video cards anymore 😛
 
Oh well, I will just net some anti-static bags from eBay first then get some of those bubble wrap mailers - since I'm storing them away for a while might as well take better precautions.

Edit: also doing it this way to make things easy when I have to ship them later.
 
What does the side of the component say? Typically they print the expiration date somewhere on the side... It's usually good only a couple days after the date.
