I haven't been able to find a post regarding this on any HT forums or Tivo Discussion boards...

Is it safe to place a shielded center channel speaker on top of a Tivo? It's a brand new Onkyo center channel from the SKSHT500 5.1 set. Is there any way it would screw up the drive in the Tivo?

I don't know why it wouldn't be ok.... Go for it. If it doesn't work right, then let us know so no one else tries it. :)

I have 4 tivos in my house, I am the tivo god. :D

On a side note, don't put your DSL modem near other devices, that's another story...

I have the same speaker set (for sale below, BTW ;)) and I don't think it will harm the TiVo or vice versa.

Yes, it's fine.
Well, it's been sitting up there for the past hour and a half or so with no problems! Thanks. :)
Cool. Just remember, flames = bad. Keep plenty of beer handy to extinguish them just in case.

big magnet = inside hard drive.

you need a REALLY big magnet, and nothing you can get as a private resident will suffice to wipe your hard drive. :)

I have one of those rare earth magnets from a hard drive in my hand right now, I've been playing with it for awhile. in the hard drive, it sits about 1-1.5cm away from the edges of the platters.
