Also, with a DLP you also need to factor in the maintenance cost (bulb replacement) to the total price. When you do that, you'll find that a $2800 plasma is about the same price as an $1800 DLP.

How the hell do you figure that? You think a bulb replacement will be a thousand bucks?

I can replace bulbs in my DLP indefinitely, while the plasma screen will not last indefinitely, and if you want to go to the extreme, will have its PQ degrade over time, which will not happen with a DLP.

And a bulb is maybe 250-300 bucks, and it won't need one for a LONG time. Mine is 3 years old and still going strong. And that's with the wife and kids being home all day and the set staying on practically all the time.

If you think the Plasma looks better, then good for you. I will state again, I have not seen a plasma of comparable price that looks as good as DLP or LCOS.
And yes, I've looked at the Pioneers and Panasonics.

Pioneer and Panasonic plasmas are rated for 60,000hrs before reaching half their brightness. That is roughly 20yrs (8 hrs per day). DLP bulbs ($250-$300) are typically good for 3 years (obviously this depends on your usage). You do the math.

I think you need a perscription for a new set of glasses then. If you put a good plasma beside ANY other HDTV, everyone else would choose the plasma as having the better picture.
