Is it rude to ask someone what fragrance they use?

When I am walking past a woman who is wearing perfume that really smells good, I am always tempted to ask her what she has on. I want to know so that I can check it out at the department store and purchase some for my girlfriend.

I realize that one of the reasons that we all use fragrances is make us more attractive to the opposite sex, but is it wrong to ask if you really like the smell?

Only if you are really ugly and/or have an unpleasant odor.
