... to say to a telemarketer who has called for my father every day this week, twice a day, "no, he wasn't here yesterday, or the day before, or the day before that, and guess what, he's not here today either because he WORKS during the day?"

Not at all.

You should get the guy's name and company and tell him to stop calling...if he doesn't...$$$

If that is rude, then I must be a complete a$$hole. I'd probably have some fun with them myself, maybe pretend I was a down syndrome kid like on crank yankers and make the person talk to me about random things.

then....

"He died" and start wailing and getting emotional. Accuse her of reminding you and wail into the phone "My daddies dead! DEAD!!"

then hang.

LOL... my dad talked to one guy for a half an hour... the guy was trying to get my dad to invest in something, my dad said he couldn't afford it, the guy asked what he does for a living, and my dad told him he was a grave digger. The guy was amazed and was asking questions and my dad said "yeah, ya gotta be careful lowering the casket down cause if it catches on the side of the hole and flips over and falls down into the grave on it's side the family gets a little irritated."

Some girl called my cell phone one morning from Las Vegas saying that if I sign up for some sweepstakes thing I would receive a free real diamond watch. I asked her how much that retailed for and what I could make if I sold it on eBay. Then I started hitting on her, asking her how old she was and telling her she sounded cute. She gave up after that. It was entertainment for a couple minutes anyway....

get on the do not call list
We are. SBC doesn't consider their calls unsolicited I guess.
 This list is federally enforced, it's not up to your phone service provider. http://www.donotcall.gov
If they continue, file a complaint against them.

SBC is our carrier, and it was SBC who called... so if you're a customer, I guess it's not considered unsolicited?

Come to think of it I remeber SBC trying to sell me a few extra features a few months ago. And they would call every few days, but they stopped after I told them to take me off their list. Maybe it only works if your the owner of the account. Next time don't say "He's not here" just say, "I'm not interested and please take me off of your list"

err oh yeah, use a deeper voice than usual :p

When they are talking, keep interupting them - heavy breathing ad ask "what are you wearing?" .... and stuff like that.
