Is it right to beat a kid to make them more obedient?

This is what happened to me today. My 3 year old niece locked herself in a room. I broke in the room and beat her. She has been more obedience ever since. She won't even move! Talk about discipline! Hah!

What I found is that it is much easier to teach her when she is unconscious. this is when I like about Machiavelli
