Sad part is, unlike 99.9999% of the rIcErS out there, I actually know what VTEC stands for.

Tell me about it... all my friends believe that VTEC is the almighty power that will make their car faster than anything else on the road. :Q

With the approval of a fellow Nissan driver, I have to do it :).

Here's why I don't think it's rice:
1) Datsun was the passenger car division, while Nissan was the truck division, at certain times in Nissan history, and at other times Datsun was Nissan. So it can be seen as not labelling the car as something it's not, but labelling what it really is.
2) "Datsun" doesn't imply increased luxury (Acura) or performance (Type R badge), but history.

I would leave the Nissan badges on there, by the way... although I have been considering removing the hood badge for quite a while.
Car is an S14 240sx btw.

Exactly... in my case however, it would imply decreased luxury. ;)

Ok, not applicable and non-essential badgin is ricey IMO. IOW, if you have a Honda EG hatch with a B-series in it... you could take off your factory LX badge to a factory JDM SiR badge would be alright as long as you add the SiR badge only to where it was if it came from the factory as an SiR.

However, if you put MORE Honda/Acura/whatever-make-your-car-is badges... that is rice because it's simply "adding stickers for stickers sake." Giant or even less noticeable but still extraneous improperly placed badging is ricey. If you put addition "Cobra" or "Ford" stickers on a real Mustang Cobra, then you have riced it...
I'm sure more than some Integra owners have overused the TypeR badge even if they are one of the few people that own real ITRs.

I agree with the messing of badging is stupid... damn Eclipses that say "SPEED" on the back... *shudder* I pity the poor cars that go through things like that.

Hehe... I saw a guy with a Civic, his rear end had "Acura" where "Honda" used to be... however, he still had the Honda H insignia, rather than the Acura A.

SHoddyCOmp.....neat pic of the 510. I had two of them at the same time. One I riced out to the max. Dropped in a 200sx 5-speed, koni shocks, spoiler, custom leather seats from a Z, wheels, paint job. Had to be an original ricer.....around 1980.

I'd also like to put some old school hood mounted mirrors. Not because they look cool (they don't), but because I'm 5'8" and so I have to look at an excessively sideways angle to view a the side mirrors. But I prefer not to make holes in my sheetmetal.

DatSWINE

My uncle came up with that after having a Datsun truck and being the biggest POS on the face of the planet... well one of em anyway ;)

I'm sorry to hear that. I see many old Datsun pickups (more than Toyotas) rolling around Austin, so obviously they aren't that bad.

If you don't mind my asking, why? It's a heck of a lot better than any American car you can buy for the same price. It (along with the Accord) is the only thing I would even consider without going to BMW, Mercedes or Lexus.

edit: no, I don't think it's rice.
