I have an Athlon T-Bird 1.2 on a Abit KT7-RAID MB, and I just got my Geforce4 ti4400. Would it be worth upgrading to say an Athlon XP1900 or higher? Is there that big of a difference between the two processors?

it really depends on what you do.

only reason I ask it because when I put in my new vid card ti4400 it seems as if it is running slower than it should. 3dmark 2001 se 7116.
The longer you wait, the cheaper and/pr faster your upgrade will be. You should wait until some game or app is slow enough to annoy you, then upgrade.
I'm still using my p3-933 + GF3 and in no hurry to upgrade since it's fast enough for work and I'm not playing anything that needs more speed. I also want to spare myself the effort of reinstalling W98SE + Win2000, drivers, apps, games, etc.

yeah good call...i just have to fiddle around with my system (again) see how i can make in run faster...
go for a raid-0 setup. the speed difference will be more noticeable than if you simply upgrade your cpu.

More or less, I'm the same. I've got an 800 P3 with a GeForce2 Ti and it plays Counter-Strike just fine. And I haven't had any problems with GTA3 as far as frame rates are concnerned. Or any other game, for that matter. I do have a boatload of RAM (768 MB), though. I'd like to upgrade the processor, but for what I do, it'll do for another year or so.
For what you have, I think you would se a larger increase with ddr as opposed to upgrading the cpu a little bit, you might just wait a little while and pick up mobo, RAM cpu all at the same time.

From what I'd read, the Opteron will actually be pretty cool. However, Intel's Itanium is very power-hungry and apparently also rather hot. 
No, you don't have to run NTFS, but it would be a good thing to do, unless you plan to be reading and writing that drive also from Linux.
And again, no, you can't "convert" your current drives while keeping the data that is on them. You'll need two identical drives, and they'll need to be reformatted once they're hooked up to the RAID controller.

I noticed an increase in performance when I went from a Tbird 1.33 gHz\ Abit KT7 (PC 133) to a XP 1900+\MSI Pro2 (KT266A\DDR). But I also upgraded my hard drive from a 5400\ATA 33 to a 7200 rpm\ATA 100 unit.
I am not sure which upgrade provided the biggest impact.

I have 2 75gxp 45gb, will raid 0+1 be just as fast as raid 0? I just bought a WD120 and figure i can afford to sacrifice some space so I dont loose all my data again like when my other 3 gxps died
