Is it really that much to put in artificial grass?

Agreed. When we remodeled the kitchen, I told the wife she could spend $12K. IIRC, she spent $10K just on the cabinets, $22K for the whole job. It does look good though.

Sounds like the deal I had with mine. Ended up 20K deep in and I did all the wiring, piping and fixtures.

$20k is very low for a new kitchen. I'm doing one right now that's fairly small, the total will be around $40k.

I figured it wasn't too awful considering we ripped it out to the studs. All new drywall, piping, wiring, floor, appliances and custom wood cabinets with a built in refrigerator and double door floor to ceiling pantry. She loves it and I got lots of brownie points. :p

A year later we did her bathroom and sunk 14K into it.

IMHO the point of fake grass is to save water. I thought everything grew like weeds in Florida.

There is huge and huge difference to feel a natural and artificial grass. I suggest to plant grass and walk on barefoot next you feel it's good. Plant grass is helpful to filter pollution, absorb heat, wellness and stress.

First of all, I don't think Miami has issues with drought like Arizona, but I could imagine you would have to water daily in the heat of the summer. Dropping $15k on turf in Miami is all about not wanting to deal with lawncare companies and possibly being able to travel 3-4 months without worrying about the condition of the yard when you return home. I just assume when I see all the yachts down there that most people have second or third homes somewhere else.

I can tell you that leaves will pile up on fake grass just as much as real grass....and dirt too when the leaves rot.
