Is it really a good idea...

lol, yeah durr...

5'7, weigh in at 138 lbs.
Right now my max is 155 lbs... but trying to work my way up slowly to 200 lbs...

Course now I'm questioning myself if I can really reach 200 lbs...
You think it's possible (without like eating meat like a mofo)?

usual daily diet.
Egg sausage muffin for breakfast.
No lunch except for like 2 days a weekday and weekends
and some regular dinner with RICE (no duh) and some other goods...

Possible? lol.

wow! You must have a really really big penis

Possible? Perhaps. You should concentrate on doing a rep or two, negitive only. If it makes your ego grow, they hey! Power to ya. As far as diet, you might want to look into creatine and whey powder. good luck on that and keep em pumpin'!

Just for reference that would be lifting 169% percent of your weight. If you weighed 200 lb, then that would be a bench of 338 lb.

So is it possible? Probably. Can you get there without becoming a competitive wieght lifter, and eating like one? Somehow I doubt it.

FYI: @17 I only bench 140 and I weigh 150. So I am not exactly sitting in a high and mighty position to tell you what can and can't be done.

heh I'm 2 years younger 🙂

If you max out at 155 then going 200 is almost 25% increase in the weight. Don't let your ego dictate the way you train because it'll only hurt you in the long run.
You want to go 10LB increase/week and try to lift that weight for next two training sessions. Then add another 10LBs after that if you can lift those weights two weeks in a row. Repeat until you hit the 200LB goal which shouldn't be too long if you're a beginner.

I'm going at a 5 lb increase each week, so um 🙂

I sure know 200 lbs I'd die if I tried right now.

With time, yes.

My cousin who is just a bit taller is doing 250. Well, that's whn he was in 10th grade. he might be up to 300 by now. His older brother is an ox though. He was at 350 last I heard.

But point it, if you want to do it, in time you will. Just keep working towards the goal.

Sure it's possible. When I was in HS I was not that strong or anything. I weighted only 135-140 and I started to press at around 110 and I ended up pressing average of 160 20 times by the end of ten weeks weight-lifting program. Sure you can do it. Food's important and as is the method that you do. For you I'll suggest that you do some power 2-3 reps of 2 max weight lifting and then next day do as many reps as you can with your regular set... you should be getting better as you switch between presses.

T'care.

At 205 I could do 315 for 4-6 reps, not exactly the numbers you posted, but close. I am neither a competitive weight lifter nor do I eat like one. I drink beer like my life depended on it on weekends, and have smoked for 20+ years.

Its more a matter of building up your strength over long periods of time, and eating a diet that leans towards lots of protein and balanced carbs.

It's not that remarkable. I weigh 210 and my max is around 335.

I'm far from competing, but I do like to eat and my diet is meat heavy.

I use to bench 125 at 14 and 15 at the wieght of about 120, but now I could only do maybe 100 at 225. I'm 29 now.

dude...i weigh 180 and heres what i eat: 4 eggs/toast, sub for lunch, 4 tacos after school, dinner, make myself a turkey sandwich or something before bed. you need to eat.

Does the fact I'm asian and that we eat less come into mind when you say these things?.

Btw, my BMI chart says I'm average weight, :Q

Okay so my post was a good example of hyperbole, but the OP is going to have eat more than he is now to obtain his goals.

im azn, 5'10 and at 165 (lol frosh 15... so much beer... so much weed...)

i can outeat my roomies no problem, 6'2 and 6'0 220, 200lbs [we hit the gym every few days but mostly bike and run, squats, abs]

I was on a kick like that a while back... kept upping my weight each week for bench presses. Problem was I only did a couple of exercises - curls, presses, sometimes flys & rows - and none of the right kind to strengthen my shoulder muscles.

Ended up partially dislocating my shoulder & had around 8 weeks of therapy... still have to go light on the presses & can't do flys anymore. Guess what I'm saying is don't focus on just presses - do other exercises to strengthen the surrounding muscles too.

I'm an 35 year old though, so you might be bulletproof for another decade or so 🙂

And mens' hearts... But I digress. What I mean is, you'd need to up your calorie intake, especially calories from protein, to pack on much muscle and therefore increase your bench.
