Interesting that the OP actually wakes up in the morning thinking about stuff like this. It has to be some type of sickness.

I always laugh when I see people who have no accomplishments or anything to be proud of who latch onto things like race or region to identify with. "Proud to be a Texan!," "Northeastern pride," "SoCal," and "Southern by the grace of God" are just as annoying to me as "White power!," "Jews will be the downfall of American society," "Pure-blooded Irish," and "Kill whitey."

I'm similarly annoyed by a lot of regional college team "fans." So many people here adorn themselves and their homes/vehicles with Alabama A logos or Georgia Bulldog's G logos who have never been or attempted to go to either school and aren't even really sports fans nor do they have an involved family member. They have no claim or association to be proud of the school or team's accomplishments. They are just "proud" fans because it gives them a collective sense of importance/accomplishment they can't get from their own actions/accomplishments and it gets them an "in" with the legitimate fans. "Go Dawgs!" 🙄
