is it possible to...

install PC Anywhere (v11.5) across the internet onto a PC connected to the internet. In this particular case this PC (remote) has an earlier version installed. I'm wanting to deploy and install over the web to update to the latest version. Also, would it be possible to deploy an install over the web onto a machine that does NOT have PC Anywhere installed on it?

Thanks...

For the machine that doesn't have the PCAnywhere yet, you will obviously need someone at the other end to start the installation. You can't just deploy something to a machine you have no remote control over. As for upgrading, I'm not too sure of that, but I believe its possible. Try checking Symantecs website.

While on the topic of PCAnywhere, how has your experience with regards to the smoothness of remote control? I have used PCAnywhere v11 with a host PC with a 8Mb/1Mb connection and a remote PC with a 4Mb/512Kb connection but the program uses almost no bandwidth and the control is choppy. Is there a way to force the program to use more bandwidth to make control smoother. Or maybe v11.5 solves this problem?

hmmm... I think you can tweak those settings. I know by default it's set to auto negotiate but I do believe I saw something to set the bandwidth.

So far most of my uses is for cable modem. I do have a couple of DSL connections. The DSL connections are not smooth. If you consider choppy to be having a delay or slower refresh.

I don't think there is any way to deploy an install over the web or even update for that matter. I think you can only do it on a LAN. I've been trying to push an update to another state but no luck.
