a client of mine wants to use two monitoring stations with one PC.
I could just get dual vga-port video card and hook the monitors up.... but is it possible to use two sets of keyboard/mouse - one at each station?

they don't care that they can't use them independently... as long as he doesn't have to run back and forth just to type something in and see it on the monitor.

Is there like one of those splitters for the keyboard and mouse? it can either be ps2 or usb...
Another question is, will win 2000 pro or XP Home allow you to use two sets ?

thank you for your help

Yes, but not independently. I've done this using USB parts, haven't tried PS/2 though.

If you try and control both mice at the same time, they will fight over the pointer on the screen.

EDIT: Sorry forgot a word.

Yes. You should be able to get away with 1 set on PS/2 and 1 set on USB. I'm not sure on using a Y-splitter on the PS/2 though.

I've got a Logitech Mx500 (ps2) and Mx700 (usb) hooked up to my system right now and it works fine. The Mouseware software lets me configure both of them too.

thank you for your answers :)

I still wonder if two keyboards will cause problems...
I don't have two keyboards to play around with...
