is that ALL the win 10 updates.. one can get ??

portable update.. looks like it scans the comp it is run on.. and grabs updates.. but that looks to be that comp specific.. im looking for a way to D/L all the win 10 updates.. and then have a program scan the comp for the ones that are not installed.. then install those ....

it does.. but that involves knowing every KB number of the update ???? downloading them..and then installing one by one... was hoping there is a program that will, when run.. go out and D/L all the updates, move them to the comp that needs to be updated.. run the program.. then select to install them...

just a note.. the version is windows 10 home single language, 64 bit ..

i have found some.. portable update is one.. windows updater is the other.. but windows updater.. doesnt support win 10 as of yet.. used it to update win 7.. D.L'ed like 4 gigs worth of updates.. after a quick windows shell command line.. it installed every update i was able to D/L though it.. once done.. i then used windows update to check.. it grabbed a few more.. and done...

so there are programs out there.. but i cant find one that works with 10.. or that wont take hours and hours to D/L EACH update one by one...

Still use an offline updates for my wife's Win7 machine (WSUS based), because after trying at least 10 fixes, windows update still uses 25% of the CPU doing nothing. Haven't been able to find the like for Windows 10. There are ways to build an updated image, but it's a PITA.

I don't think it works that way anymore boys. Things have moved on since 2009. I would defer to a counter factual of course but that WU is a simple query routine that looks for shit in place and creates a list of what's missing ,then d/l the files. Why would it send out the full shebang if a system wasn't qualified for half of it ?

oh i dont know.. because maybe some dont have access to the internet all the time.. and cause of that... havent updated in quite a few months ??

and if you can D/L all the updates for win 10.. that could cover any comp, from a fresh install to one that was updated last week... when the program is run, it checks to see which win 10 you have, checks its update cache, see what is needed, what isnt there.. D/Ls what it needs.. then proceeds to update .. just like how windows update does.. but with the files already there from a prev machine....

You can either just manually download the cumulative updates for the latest month as it has all before.
Or you can use WSUSOffline http://download.wsusoffline.net/ and it will create a folder you copy to a usb key and you can use that to install them offline

Since it's a notebook, and you'll be going between the two locations anyway, can't you just connect the notebook to your network, install all of the updates, and then take the computer back to them?

So how are you planning to get the updates to them, then? Mail a disk or something like that?

My suggestion would be to download the Creators Update and use the update assistant to put the files on a Flash Drive. Put that in the laptop when you get there and run the setup program (I had to manually double-click the file). It will run all the updates needed to get you up to that level, and it won't mess with what he has already. There are only a few updates to install after that, which should be manageable on his connection.

I just made sure this worked by making a VM with 1607 and updating to 1703 using the method above, and everything went smoothly, including the test files I placed on the desktop.
