Is it possible to update integrated raid controller BIOS?

Hi,

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I have a Abit AT8 32X motherboard that has a integrated Sil 3132 RAID/SATA controller. Abit hasn't updated the BIOS for the motherboard in over a year and I see there is a updated BIOS for the RAID controller but the motherboard BIOS controls certain aspects of the RAID controller (turning it on/off or selecting SATA vs RAID). I'm wondering if its posible to update the BIOS of just the RAID controller w/o screwing the motherboard up???

Thanks!

What problems are you having that you have reason to believe would be fixed by an updated RAID BIOS?

But to answer the question, YES! There indeed is a way to update the RAID controller option ROM without screwing the motherboard up. And if you have to ask, then you don't have the knowledge or skill set required to do it.
