My computer is hooked up on a phoneline network connected to a computer w/ a cable modem. I want to connect another computer to my comp [not the cable modem comp] to share files and internet on a 10/100 NIC. I just don't know how to do that. Any ideas?

All you should have to do for the networking the two computer together is put a network card in both of the computers and use a different IP segment than the cable modems IP. (like 192.x.x.x which is not a real world IP address)

On the (new) computer on the network, you can try to set the gateway IP to the IP of the phone networking card and see if you can get to the internet....?

If you have ME or 98se 0n the computer that has phone line network card, use internet connection sharing. Add the service to the network card and the wizard should walk you through setup...

If I read what you say correctly, you should simply add a phoneline card to the other pc and plug it into the phoneline. The pc that shares the cable already shares to the phoneline network so adding another pc on the phoneline network should do the trick.

If you want to set this up so it purposely goes through your pc and the cable sharing pc wont know the new pc is online, then you will need a proxy program on your pc. You could also route through your pc.

Just hooking up another phoneline card is the easy way.
