Is it possible to run AIM's file transfer through school's proxy?

The connection speed is limited to about 230kB/s through direct connect and 700kB/s through school's proxy.

They wer both tested by DLing a dummy file from a website.

It'd be great if I can route personal downloads from other people on AIM, Yahoo, etc to go through school's proxy so I can get a faster download.

It's faster through the proxy because it's local. Routing other downloads through the proxy server isn't going to speed them up if they're not coming from a computer on your school's network.

The download was from Canada. I doubt anyone's downloaded the same file. is it possible that they're putting a cap
on direct connect to encourage proxy use?
