Try it put them one on primary and the other on secondary. If it works it won't be much faster than one at a time.

I tried ripping 2 DVD's at once, and both transfers slowed to an absolute crawl. Both of my DVD-ROM's are on the same IDE channel. It was much faster to do one after another. IDE is not suited for multitasking.

Yes, IDE is not suited for multitasking. If you had a SCSI setup on the other hand, it may work if you have a fast cpu.

If you had 2 CDROM drives and 2 hard drives all on different channels it might work. That would require some sort of add-on or onboard ATA controller.

just curios why. it's going to take all of 4 - 5 min to rip a CD (DVD 15-20 w\o encoding), how many copies do you need to make that you need to save the time?
or is this just wondering aloud?

I have done ripping/encoding of MP3s from 2 CDs at once. I opened up 2 copies of EAC, and let each work on a seperate drive at once. It was a bit quicker than doing one at a time, as both CD drives are only ATA33, and they were on a ATA100 controller with the hard drive on the other channel.

I've ripped a DVD (dvdshrink) and burned a CD (nero) at the same time, with no slowdown and taskmanager only showed 10% processor usage.

This was on a:
1800XP
512 DDR2100
4X Pioneer DVD-R (burning the CD)
old 4X Toshiba DVD-ROM (ripping movie)

edit: DVD-ROM was on primary with HD, and DVD-R was alone on secondary channel.

I misunderstood and replied as if you asked about burning not ripping, edited out off topic so NM.
