I am aware that you can auto hide it, but is there a way to totally get rid of it or only have it appear when hitting the windows button?
 
you can resize it to nothing. it leaves a sliver at the bottom, and when you press the windows key, the menu appears, but not in the usual place. the bar doesnt pop up at all.
