Is it possible to remove both greeny heatsink pins on a CUSL2 from the top instead of behind...

...the motherboard? as i can't be bothered removing the motherboard just to remove the two pins. if i can remove these by using brute force does it damage the pins at all? i would like to replace the original greeny with a fan heatsink combo.

Not without breaking them. They are a split pin that has to be squeezed together to get them out. Can only be done from behind.

You may break them, but it can be done. I did it and they didn't break.

If you are carefull,and have replacements,you can drill the old ones in the center and this will unlock them,but it is too easy to remove the mobo, rather than take a chance on damaging it. Radio shack has a fan and heatsink that looks like it will snap onto the mean greenie....supposed to be for a 486 cpu,anyone know if this will work?

Just remove the 486 fan from Radio Shack's sink and screw it right on the mean greenie.
