Is it possible to lock a printer?

I just got a new printer and I want to go easy on the ink.. I have a friend that comes over a lot and prints out a bunch of stuff I don't want him to.. is there any way that I can password protect the printer so anyone that tries to print from any program has to enter a password to proceed?

nope, tell him to stop. Or hurt him. Either way this is not a computer issue, this is a human interaction issue.

Hey, what's up jfall! Remember me man? It's been awhile.... 🙂

Anyways, I'm guessing ya got Windows XP? Go to your printer properties, and go to the Security tab. You can configure him in there, I s'pose. I would go step by step, but I'm the only user and I haven't done this. I would think that you would uncheck Print allow for Everyone. Then, enable the Guest account, so he can use it...but not be allowed to print. I'm not sure, but hopefully that'll help ya get started. If that works out, I hope you can explain whatcha did.

See ya!

Why not keep him from using the computer at all? That would be easier. Removing the power cord or ink cartridges would work as well, but that becomes an inconvience to you. Set it up to require a login, and don't give him the password.
