is it possible to increase core voltage above the limit?

i own a 6950 and i'm curious if there's a way to increase the voltage past 1300 mv. i want to get higher clocks. and this should be safe if the card doesnt get too hot correct?

There's more to overvolting than temperatures. High voltages will wear out the transistors themselves rather quickly. Considering the default voltage on 6900 cards, going above 1.3v is not a good idea for long term use.

i'm not planning on using this card for long term use. i'll sell it off as soon as the 28nm nvidia cards come out. is there any way to push the voltages higher than 1300 mv? i never let the card get above 70C anyway

Whatever you do, just don't take it over 9000. ;)

Sorry, couldn't help myself. I assume that CCC won't allow you to go over 1.3v, correct? I don't know if afterburner works with your card, but that is the first tool I'd try. ATI tool has help me out in the past with AMD cards as well.

it's currently oc'ed to 980 core and 1400 memory on 1300mv using afterburner. unfortunately i cant go any higher. the temps never go past 65-70 ish degrees

mine does 980-985 and 1375-1400 at 1300mv. Did you do +20% on powertune?

You can always solder a pot onto the voltage regulator. disable overcurrent protection and over-volt protection schemes with resistor mods.
