Is it possible to have kids without getting overly stressed?

I think parenting is one of those things thats not for everyone.
I have no kids of my own , but I almost raised my brothers children.
He lived near me and was drunk a lot of the time , so the kids spent a lot of the time with me.

All three were girls. I wouldn't take it back for anything. Those kids are 15+ now and still run up to hug me when they see me. Still there were times, like the throwing fits in the grocery store. Always lovely when a 3 year old throws themselves on the floor and starts kicking and screaming because you told them no.

I see shows on tv , where people have 6+ 3 year olds at one time.
Now THAT I could not handle.

I see all of these 1-3 year olds crying like crazy, 4 - 10 year olds whining like crazy.... I want kids, but it's impossible for me to sit in a restaurant and deal with a crying baby for longer than half hour or so...

Is it possible to get yourself to a mental state where, with a lot of other stresses out of your life, it's possible to have a child and not be stressed by it?

Most dumb question ever.

Sorry I've been watching my two boys all day since my wife had to work today. It ain't easy but I wouldn't change it for anything.

Your boys are studs. Kudos!

BTW while I was on solo patrol today my younger son (2) was throwing/kicking a nerf soccer ball to me which I would throw back to him.

My older boy (4) thought this looked like fun so while I was waiting for the younger one, he decided to throw a hard plastic ball at me. I never saw it coming and it bopped me on my head. He just shook his head an repeated the same thing I say to him "You gotta keep your eye on the ball". I still have a small welt. 😀

LOL OP! I am soon to have 4 kids.... all of them 4 years old or younger!!! Stress?? Oh yea, it can be stressful. One child? IMHO - Easy if they don't have any health problems. Easy is subjective though because of the number of kids I have. I don't really like going to restaurants anymore... my Wife and I just wolf down our food so we can take care of the kids. Even loading up the car can be stressful... everybody's FINALLY in and one of them drops a bomb in their diaper. Not so bad until you realize it leaked out and got all over the car seat. Then you have to get them all out, back in the house, shoes off, coats off, etc and occupied while you clean the other one. By the time you're done, they don't want to get into the car anymore.... do it all over again. Would I trade my kids for anything on this world?? Hell no!!! I love them way too much.

Cliffs: Stressful to have kids? Yes, but worth it.

Mental Block? Sure - after a while you'll tune out the screaming!

Its all in how you raise them. I have 2 boys and they have been complete angels and its not a joke. But I also spend time with them, treat them a human being, dont spoil them, and when I say something goes down, it goes down without threats out empty threats and just keep saying, if you dont quit Im gonna take xxx away, or ground you, but as they keep doing it just say what I will do it and not do it. Its my way or, well, its just my way. And because so I never had a problem with my children.

But there are tons of parents that just suck as being a parent. You need to be a parent right up front, they are not your friends, or want them to think of you as a friend, you are their parent. When they become 18-19 then parenting is over, sorta, and can be more friend if you showed them the right way up to that point.

But anyway, these kids screaming and carrying on, its not the child, its the shitty parent(s).

Well said and well done.
