is it possible to have 2 anti virus programs?

i'm thinking at first... no. because of conflicts. i have nav03 and it didnt detect 4-5 files that trend micro house call did. i had a virus called troj_slime.a and only trend micro was aware of this. they make pc cillin i think. im very tempted to switch, but i read in another post that NAV caught something trend micro didn't. i'm at a loss as to which AV is the best.

Yes you can.
As long as they both arnt running background programs at the same time.
Just set one to function normally, and the other to only load up on your request.

Norton is the best. Do you have up-to-date definitions? It's pretty tough to get something past Norton unless it is brand new. Something sounds fishy.

Are you using NTFS? If not, you can always get a dos/windows virus program such as F-prot and run it when you want to catch the virii and keep the other as a background app.

i also have the latest definitions... norton doesn't detect TROJ_SLIME.A

The best protection is common sense, don't run anything you're not sure is safe. Nothing is perfect, you won't find something that will protect you from everything.

It is easier to clean a fat32 partition cause you can go to dos and make sure that the virus is not active in windows, that's all I was thinking.
But since you are using NTFS only, you could run a second anti-virus program just keep one active and execute the other yourself when needed like was mentioned.

Make sure you turn off system restore if you find you have a virus and need to clean completely cause it could make a backup which can not be cleaned while restore is on.
