I've always wondered if there is a surgical procedure to do that sound permanently.

Why, you want to sound like Harvey Fierstein?

the guy from The Crash Test Dummies gargled gasoline to make his voice deeper, you can try that with a good whiskey. That should do it. I know my voice is pretty deep, I do movie trailer voice overs, and my voice sounds prime right after I have a nice shot of Jack.

Smoke a pack of cigarettes and drink a bunch of shots of Jack Daniels. I guarantee you'll have a deeper voice in the morning, but you won't want to speak.

You can change the natural tone of your voice through classes?

well, when you're imitating someone, you can lower or raise your voice, right? Classes can help you develop this until you can talk a certain way all the time.

...at least, that's what I'd assume.

A high voice in a guy is pretty rare, you should take advantage of it. Take voive lessons or something.

Ignore all these ignurts that question your manhood based on the voice . . . the drop is a sign of puberty but at 21 you are already well past that.

You say you are a 1st Tenor, so I'm guessing that you are involved in a choral group or choir? Remember that the vocal cords are just a set of strings. Try (it will take time and work) to increase your range. I know that although I'm 41, over the last 2-3 years my voice has actually gotten a bit deeper... not hugely, but noticably. The only thing I did in that timeframe was to get involved in a Choir where I've had to increase my range (I'm a bass) to sing some tenor parts... the weird thing is that the more I practice the tenor parts, the deeper my voice gets.

What I'm about to say is pure conjecture, but it's the only thing I can think of. I wonder if by stretching the cords over time (to hit higher notes) has caused them to be a miniscule bit looser in normal usage, which would result in a slightly deeper tone.

So try singing on a regular basis things that are a stretch for you... both higher and lower... and see what happens.

was involved, yeah. back in high school. my voice dropped a bit, but its still kinda high imo. oh well, I can live with it. I'm not going to take up smoking or drinking tho :)
