Is it possible to force laptop to boot from external floppy drive?

Am trying to flash firmware for laptop dvd-rom using a MS-startup floppy, but despite changing BIOS boot settings, it still won't boot from external floppy drive.

Is there a way to force it to boot from external floppy? Thanks in advance...!

I dont believe you can. It depends on the bios really. If it has support for booting a floppy via usb, you're in luck. otherwise, you gotta boot via an internal floppy drive.

I do it all the time on IBM laptops. Try hitting F12 or whatever ur bootmenu key is. Hopefully the floppy will show up.

Only if your laptop BIOS supports USB boot. That's the only way to connect an external floppy today.
