Is it possible to fix a crushed LGA Socket 775?

One corner of the pins in the CPU socket got munched...how the heck do I post a picture anyway? Would it be worth spending any money on a MOBO like this? I REALLY need a MOBO and Im having a very hard time finding one...I can get this one for ~25$. How flexible are the pins, if I try to bend them back will they break off?

I need an Asus P5N-D. Why? I need LGA775, I need RS-232, PS2, DDR2, IDE & SATA, ATX (need the PCI-E and expansion slots). I havnt been able to find any other C2D full ATX MOBO with RS-232. This sytem is used to connect with some older and really expensive sewing/embroidery machines. Somehow the MOBO died and Im responsible...or so Im told (Im not allowed to check).

Any advice, or anybody know where I can find a replacement MOBO that aint fooked up?

probability of fixing bent 775 LGA pins is pretty slim. Maybe if only 1-2 got bent, and you have a very steady hand and keen eyesight, but not if a whole bunch are crunched.

^This.... It also depends on how badly the metal got bent out of place. The metal for those pins is very thin and it doesn't take much to build up fatigue on them which causes them to snap.

Try the for sale/trade forums. You should be able to find a board there.
Of course, the usual on-line retailers should also have a few available...

Many motherboards have RS-232 serial headers, you just need a cheap bracket to turn that into a DB-9 connector. You can also get PCI serial cards for fairly cheap and add a couple of serial ports to just about any motherboard.

Should be able to find a similar ATX board on eBay. Recently bought a used Intel branded P43 socket 775 ATX DDR2 board for under $25, shipped. For the RS-232 connection, get a USB-to-serial port adapter (or else: a serial port PCI card, as mentioned above).

If a lot of them a crushed you won't be able to repair it, but if it's only one you could always try to bend it back. OR get the same board somwhere on EBay.
