Is it possible to edit a PDF?

My instructor sends out his homework assignments as PDFs and I was wondering is there anyway I could type out the answer to the question as an integrated part of the homework. I have Adobe Acrobat (not the reader). Basically he sends out a pdf with questions spaced a certain distance apart and you are supposed to print it out and write down the answer but since my handwriting sucks Id rather type the answer and print it. Is this possible? How?
