I thought I remember seeing the option to download (instead of ordering the dvd).

Also, if a download is possible, can it be downloaded on a windows computer and then burn it to dvd to be installed on a mac? My friend has a macbook but he only has a cdrom drive so I was going to download on my windows pc, then burn it so that he can install on his macbook but I wasn't sure if HFS/NTFS would cause a problem.

You can download the new iWork Trial and then purchase it, that will bring it up to the full version. As far as iLife goes. I really am not sure. You could always purchase iLife, then torrent it from someone else. Then, you are still legal since your actual copy is on its way.

If you could download it, then i would imagine that it would be a .dmg, and that is not readable on Windows. The IWork and iLife suites aren't that big though, you could definitely use 2 CDs to burn it. And his machine has a CDRW/DVDROM drive, i have the same one.

Cool, thanks for your help.

I totally forgot that it would be a dmg file once downloaded.

Strictly speaking, no you are not still legal. The act of torrenting anything implies distribution of the file as well, which is the more significant infringement.

Ah... true enough, so i guess then you are stuck with waiting for the DVD on that one since I don't think it has a trial.

Why? Yes, NeoOffice is free.... but even that is not a compelling argument all the time. And unless things have improved in NeoOffice, I wouldn't use it, it isn't stable enough in my opinion.

neooffice does not have the same feel as iwork.. and has nothing compared to keynote. The java wrapper for it makes it feel sluggish still. It'll be interesting once open office gets a true OS X build out.

Granted, I'm not going to buy iwork mainly because I barely use word processors and spreadsheets.. let alone make presentations, heh. It did make my financial tracking look pretty.. but for now, it's old school spreadsheets, heh.

I gotta say that I'm lovin' pages...its very versatile....takes a bit getting use to...but worth it.

wow, I haven't had a hint of a problem with neooffice, let alone a performance problem.

I have the iWork trial - yawn. Can't save to HTML?!?! What year is this?

Numbers, well, lets just say this, don't do anything complex and your ok.

HTML is under the export menu, I know for a fact that Keynote exports to PPT, HTML, MOV, MP4, and a couple of others. Pages and Numbers cannot export to html, but you can export Pages to plain text, then you just change the extension. Both of them can also be sent to iWeb, and that would do the converting for you.

define complex. I don't think apple was targeting it towards any excel killer.
