Is it possible to control 2 computers with 1 mouse and keyboard?

Just built a spare rig and wanted to know if i can control 2 computers with 1 mouse and keyboard, because its a real hassle having two sets of mouse and keyboard on the desk. THanks in advance.

Yeah, get a KVM switch (Keyboard Video Mouse).

You can run more then one CPU-case on a single Keyboard/Monitor & Mouse simply by flipping a switch or hitting a button.

KVMs vary widely on price and layout depending on what you need it to do... I have a simple 2-computer KVM with a single button on it for switching my KVM components from one computer to the other. Depending on your needs, you can get a simple 2-computer KVM or one that has a LOT of connections (say seven computers or so on a single KVM).

If your computers are on a network, you might consider a software KVM such a UltraVNC I use it with 16 machines at home.

I have a usb keyboard [saitek eclipse] and a usb mouse [razer] a dell 2001 fp monitor which has a dvi port and a vga port [I use dvi now for the superior video quality], my current system has a Geforce 6800gt so it has a dvi port but the new rig i just built doesn't have a dvi port [geforce ti 200] any good KVM switches for that setup?

I've installed the program and its working great sofar, haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. I'm using it to run a headless rig over LAN.

The bulk of my fleet is Win2k, with a couple boxes running Win98 and one running Ubuntu. I haven't looked to see if there's a client for my Linux box yet, but yes, I use UltraVNC for all the rest of my boxes and it works fine. Every once in a while I've had the program crash, but the price of the software versus a hardware solution with extra cabling(for the 16 computers I run), it's way more than worth it!

I use Synergy http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ to share a mouse and keyboard across multiple PCs. This solution is only valid if each machine still retains its own display. It even works well connecting a multi-headed machine to a single-headed machine.

If you are running XP Pro use Remote Desktop Connection and you can controll your computer from your other one. I love it it is not slow or have any troubles as of yet.

If you are running others then KVM switch.
