Is it possible to change your Steam username/e-mail?

Well, I'm pretty sure that you can change the contact e-mail, but what about the username? Could I change that?

I don't think they let you change your account name. I tried to do this a while back as well.

Unfortunately, my account name was my old email address, which got closed a year or so ago, so it's confusing to log in. I guess the moral of that story is not to use your email address as your username .

Same here. You can only change the contact email not the userid.

to change ur steram name open steam then goto friends list , then goto options. and there you can cahnge your steam name(not your user id, the name people see when you are online will be changed)


Have not tried this, but found it doing a search.

I did just log into steamcommunity.com and it let me change my steam ID there. So, yes you can change your ID, just not your login name.

So I have to go through the Steam app to change the name by which I log in? The steamcommunity.com site was a good find, thanks for that.

You can't change the name you login with. You can change the name that's displayed in the steam community (what others see you as) though.

it's too bad you had no choice but to use your email if you registered way back in the day

I registered when it first came out as well, so I'm stuck with my old non-existant email address to log into steam. I wish they would allow us to change it.

Pretty sure I registered when Steam came out and didn't have to use my e-mail address.

I'm pretty sure if I had a choice when I registered I wouldn't have used my now dead college email. Since for the past 12 years or so, I've never done such a thing when given a choice...
