Hello,

We(at work) used to have Win98 installed, and I used to be able to "ctrl-alt" and file , run, explorer and then surf the net without logging on to Win98.

We received new computers with Win2000 Pro installed (at Work).

Now we have to "log on" to use puter , can Win2000 Pro password be bypassed and Access Explorer somehow??

Any info is appreciated, Thanks

As part of the Operating System security model, a password must be entered before a user can perform any action.

However, you can select Windows 2000 to automatically assume that a particular user has logged in, and automatically log in for you.

But you would need to have administrative access to do this...and from what I can gather from your comments...you don't.

At home I have Win2000 set up for auto log-in (without any passwords).

I can't see how explorer cannot be accessed without out logging into win2K, Passwords protect work and programs but explorer should be avail.

Our Win98 computers were password protected but the backway to explorer is not the same with Win2K, I am just assuming there is a way but I have tried what I know without any luck.

Anyone ?

Recappig what was said. If you want to setup the machine to automatically log you into a specific account, you can (presuming you have the right rights to set that up). If your just a 'user', there is no way to 'bypass' the login like with 98. Unlike 98 this is a real OS. At the point your logging in, you don't have a windowstation yet, that occurs once your login completes. The windowstation holds your 'environment' (desktop, apps, windows, etc). Without the login part you can't continue.

If logging into the computer is keeping you from surfing pr0n you have bigger problems to worry about.
